Ohmyfin responde: What is a pacs.008 message in ISO 20022?
Ohmyfin responde a continuación. El contenido está en inglés.
pacs.008 (FIToFICustomerCreditTransfer) is the ISO 20022 equivalent of a SWIFT MT103. It carries a single customer credit transfer from the originating bank to the beneficiary's bank through any number of intermediaries. pacs.008 fully replaces MT103 on the SWIFT network during the FINplus migration (2022-2025).
pacs.008 is one of the core pacs.* (payments clearing and settlement) message types in ISO 20022. It is used for cross-border and high-value domestic credit transfers, including SEPA Credit Transfers in Europe.
Structurally, a pacs.008 contains a GroupHeader (settlement instructions, total amount, message ID, UETR equivalent) and one or more CreditTransferTransactionInformation blocks (each one a distinct payment).
On the SWIFT network, every pacs.008 carries the same UETR concept as MT103 — in pacs.008 it lives in the <UETR> element inside <PmtId>. You can track it on Ohmyfin exactly the same way you track an MT103 UETR.
ISO 20022 successor to SWIFT MT103
Mandatory across SWIFT correspondent-banking by end of 2025
Carries the same 36-character UETR as MT103
Used for SEPA Credit Transfers in Europe and cross-border payments worldwide
