If you don't have a UETR, you can still track using the bank reference (MT103 field 20) on Ohmyfin — paste it the same way you would a UETR. The match will work at the originating bank's leg of the chain. Best option: get the UETR. Every SWIFT payment since November 2018 has one. If the sender can't find it, the sender's bank can — every TRN/reference at a bank maps to exactly one UETR.

Common scam: someone tells you a payment was sent but refuses to share the UETR or MT103. That is a red flag — every legitimate sender can get the UETR within minutes from their bank.
