Ask your bank for a copy of the MT103 — it is the SWIFT confirmation message for your payment. Most banks will email or print it on request, often within minutes. You can also frequently download it from the online banking portal under 'payment confirmation' or 'SWIFT copy'.
The MT103 (or its ISO 20022 successor pacs.008) is the actual SWIFT message that moves your money across the network. A copy is your proof of payment — you have a right to it as the originator.
Where to find it: 1) Online banking → transaction details → 'SWIFT copy' or 'Confirmation'. 2) Phone the bank's international payments team and request an MT103 copy by reference. 3) Visit a branch with the payment reference. Most banks provide it free.
What's on it: sender details (field 50), beneficiary details (field 59), amount and currency (field 32A), value date, charges code (71A), correspondent banks used (52A, 53A, 56A, 57A), reference (field 20) and UETR (field 121).
