A SWIFT/BIC code is a unique identifier for a bank on the SWIFT global messaging network. When sending an international wire transfer to a bank in Taiwan, you must include the recipient bank's SWIFT/BIC code so the payment is routed correctly. Without it, most banks will reject the transfer.
SWIFT/BIC codes are either 8 or 11 characters long. The first 4 characters identify the bank, the next 2 identify the country (e.g. TW for Taiwan), and the final 2–5 characters identify the location and optional branch. An 8-character BIC refers to the bank's head office.
Once your bank sends the wire, it gets a 36-character UETR tracking code (on your MT103 receipt, field 121). Paste it into Ohmyfin's free SWIFT tracker to see the live GPI status — no login needed, results in seconds.
Paste the 36-character UETR from your wire confirmation and see the live SWIFT GPI status in seconds. No bank login, no signup, no charge.
