Details

Every SWIFT payment created since November 2018 has a UETR — a 36-character code in the format 8-4-4-4-12 (for example 12345678-1234-4abc-9def-1234567890ab). The UETR follows the payment through every correspondent bank in the chain and is the most reliable identifier for end-to-end tracking.

Ask the sender to give you the UETR from their payment confirmation. It is also printed on the MT103 SWIFT message in field 121 (block 3) and inside the <UETR> element of an ISO 20022 pacs.008 message. If the sender used online banking, the UETR is usually shown on the payment receipt.

Once you have the UETR, paste it into the Ohmyfin tracker on the homepage. Ohmyfin queries the SWIFT GPI network and returns the latest available status — accepted, in progress, credited to beneficiary, rejected, or pending — along with which bank in the chain currently holds the payment.

Ohmyfin tracking is free for individuals worldwide (10 lookups per IP per day, plus 100 free credits when you create an account). No bank account, no card, no subscription required.
