The UETR is in field 121 of the MT103 message, located in block 3 (User Header). It is a 36-character UUID with 4 dashes, e.g. 9b2f5d4a-6e8c-4d1b-a7f3-2c9e1b8a4d6f. If your bank gives you a PDF MT103 confirmation, the UETR is usually labelled "UETR" or "Unique end-to-end transaction reference" near the top of the document.
Details
Step-by-step:
1. Open your MT103 confirmation (PDF or text message).
2. Look for a 36-character string with 4 dashes — format: 8-4-4-4-12 hex characters.
3. It may be labelled "UETR", "Unique End-to-end Transaction Reference", "Field 121", or appear under a SWIFT header section.
4. If you see only a TRN (bank reference, usually shorter), that is NOT a UETR — TRN is bank-specific. Ask the sender for the UETR explicitly.
5. Copy the UETR (with dashes) into the Ohmyfin tracker on the homepage.
Mandatory on every GPI payment since November 2018.
The same UETR appears in MT103, MT202COV, pacs.008 and pacs.002 messages of the same payment.
