Remitly focuses on diaspora corridors — US/UK/EU → Philippines, Mexico, India, Pakistan, Nigeria, etc. Most consumer transfers settle on partner-bank local rails, mobile wallets (GCash, M-Pesa) or cash pickup, NOT on SWIFT. Remitly transfers are mostly local-rail so most don't have a UETR. But when they do (less common corridors, large amounts), Ohmyfin is the way to see live SWIFT status when Remitly's in-app tracker is vague.
What is Remitly? Remitly focuses on diaspora corridors — US/UK/EU → Philippines, Mexico, India, Pakistan, Nigeria, etc. Most consumer transfers settle on partner-bank local rails, mobile wallets (GCash, M-Pesa) or cash pickup, NOT on SWIFT.
How Remitly settles cross-border payments: Local rails (ACH, SEPA, Faster Payments, UPI, Pix, GCash, etc.) for most corridors. SWIFT only for non-major corridors and business-volume transfers. This means Remitly rarely uses SWIFT. Some bank-deposit corridors to less-served destinations (Eastern Europe, parts of Africa, MENA exotic currencies) still route via SWIFT.
Tracking a Remitly transfer: Confirmation Number (CRN) for internal tracking. UETR available only on SWIFT-routed transfers — request from Remitly support.
Remitly pricing — Often free for Economy speed in popular corridors. Express transfers $1.99-9.99. FX markup 0.5-2.5%.. Typical speed — Express: minutes. Economy: 3-5 business days.. Coverage — Send from 20+ countries, deliver to 170+ countries..
Why Ohmyfin matters for Remitly users: Remitly transfers are mostly local-rail so most don't have a UETR. But when they do (less common corridors, large amounts), Ohmyfin is the way to see live SWIFT status when Remitly's in-app tracker is vague. Ohmyfin is an independent payment-status search service — we are not affiliated with Remitly in any way, and we do not need access to your Remitly account. Free for ordinary users worldwide.
Rarely. Remitly's entire model is built on local payment rails and mobile wallets to keep costs and speed competitive. Only a small percentage of transfers — typically large amounts or less-served corridors — actually route via SWIFT and get a UETR.
Because it didn't use SWIFT. Remitly settled it via local rails (e.g. UPI to India, GCash to Philippines, Pix to Brazil) or via cash pickup at a partner. These rails have their own reference formats — UTR for UPI, etc. — but not a SWIFT UETR.
Yes — use the Remitly app with the Confirmation Number (CRN). For SWIFT-routed transfers (rare), request the UETR from Remitly support and paste it into Ohmyfin for live SWIFT GPI status.
For most digital remittance corridors (US→Philippines, US→Mexico, US→India), Remitly is 30-60% cheaper than WU/MG on the headline fee + FX spread combined, especially on the Economy speed.
Contact Remitly customer support and ask for the SWIFT reference / UETR / MT103 of your transfer. They can only provide it if the transfer actually went via SWIFT — for local-rail transfers, no UETR exists.
Common causes: bank holiday in destination, beneficiary bank rejected the IBAN/account number, KYC re-verification triggered, or the destination wallet/account is suspended. Remitly support will investigate; if SWIFT-routed, Ohmyfin tracking will show the actual hold point.
Yes — UK transfers settle on Faster Payments (no UETR, instant), EU transfers settle on SEPA Instant (no UETR, instant). Large amounts above the SEPA Instant ceiling may go SWIFT (gets a UETR).
A unique reference (typically RT-XXXXXXXX format) Remitly assigns to every transfer for in-app tracking and customer-support lookup. It is NOT a SWIFT UETR and cannot be used on Ohmyfin.
Yes for many corridors. The bank-deposit option in some corridors routes via SWIFT, in others via local rails or via Remitly's own correspondent bank. Check the Remitly delivery summary for "Bank Deposit (SWIFT)" vs "Bank Deposit (Local rail)".
