ACSC means AcceptedSettlementCompleted — the payment has settled between the banks but may not yet be credited to the beneficiary's account. The next status is normally ACCC (AcceptedCreditCompleted), which means the funds are in the beneficiary's account and visible. The gap between ACSC and ACCC is usually minutes to hours, occasionally up to 1 business day at slower banks.
ACSC = AcceptedSettlementCompleted: the inter-bank settlement leg is done. Money has moved between banks. The beneficiary's bank has the funds.
ACCC = AcceptedCreditCompleted: the beneficiary's bank has applied the funds to the beneficiary's customer account. The beneficiary can see and use the money.
Why the gap? The beneficiary's bank has internal processing — sanctions screening at the credit stage, IBAN-to-name matching, suspense-account reconciliation. For most banks this is 5-30 minutes. For some retail banks or in some markets, end-of-day batch processing means ACSC at 14:00 might not become ACCC until next-day 09:00.
If status is ACSC for more than 24 hours and no ACCC, ask the beneficiary to call their bank with the UETR — the credit may be sitting in a suspense account due to a name mismatch.
